Molecular Biology Core (MBC)

Overview of Services

The University of New Mexico’s Biology Department offers the Molecular Biology Core, a centralized resource that combines essential services to support a wide range of research needs. This core facility provides:

Genetic Sequencing and Bioinformatics Support: The Molecular Biology Core offers genetic sequencing services to university investigators and includes a Bioinformatics Specialist to assist with data analysis, ensuring researchers receive comprehensive support from raw data to insights.
Cell Biology Services: The Core offers specialized infrastructure and scientific support for research in plant and animal cell biology, including cryosectioning, microscopy, and flow cytometry, allowing for in-depth cellular and molecular investigations.
Controlled Environment Resources: Researchers have access to facilities for secure long-term storage of samples and unique controlled environments that support experimentation with non-traditional model organisms.
